You may have heard about the Geography Bee during class and may have taken the preliminary round of the Geography Bee, but do you know why? After you take the first round of the Bee, you can get a chance to participate in the TJMS championship round! Only ten students at Jefferson were invited to participate in the school championship round. It was supposed to take place after school in the library on January 15  at 2:40 pm, however, due to the weather, the school championship round took place on January 18. At the end of the championship round, they crown a winner, Sassan Fiske! Next, he has the chance to participate in the Virginia state bee. He has taken the state qualifying exam. Now, Sassan has to wait until March 4, 2019 for the official announcement from National Geographic to see if he qualifies for the Virginia State Bee! If he does qualify, he will travel down to Longwood University in Farmville, VA, on March 29, 2019. After that, if Sassan ends up as the winner, he will be invited to participate in the National Geography Bee on May 19-22, 2019 in Washington D.C. at the National Geographic Society Headquarters! Good luck Sassan!
