On November 19th, you probably heard about Career Day on the morning announcements. Ms. Woody-Pope explained, “Thomas Jefferson Career Day is an annual 8th grade event for students to meet career professionals who share common interests.” Two career professionals that came to Thomas Jefferson were a chef, Charles Smith, and an environmental scientist, Dale Galvin. These people are just some of the professionals that came to TJ. You may be wondering, why do we have a Career Day? According to Ms. Woody-Pope, “We have Career Day at TJMS because we want our 8th graders to start high school with a vision of the infinite career opportunities available in them, while also developing an understanding of how they can begin to prepare for these careers through class choices, extra-curricular activities, internships, and community service projects.”
